Danny, the Cochin cock in this discussion is a "collo oro" and have that triangle (in the cock) and the pattern (in the hen), also if this pattern is different, not as in the partridge colour. I don't know in other countries wich phenotype is called gold neck but here that on the photos puted by Michael and Fabio. Simone explained that the "collo oro" cock have triangle and so on. |

Oké, than in Flemish "goud-nek" or in English "gold-necked" means not the same as in Italiano "collo oro".
And you have right Tünde and Simone, I found the photo's of what in Italiano is called "collo oro" : www.kippenencyclopedie.nl/php/index.php?title=Patrijs In Flemish it is called "patrijs" in English "black-red".
I only wanted to indicate that cocks based on "E" and "ER" NOT have a wing triangle, cocks based on "e+" , "eb" and "eWh" HAVE a wing triangle.
To be complete there are 3 kinds of "partridges" : single laced, double laced and multiple laced. The one indicated as "collo oro" should be the "single laced".
As you can see on the photo's this hen have the salmon red breast so this must be based on " e+" and the cock have the wing triangle.
The double laced and multiple laced should be based on " eb".
Because I had it wrong in the "hobbynames" I modificated the names I posted as " collo oro" in to " nera oro" and the Selvatica should be the " collo oro".

hello Danny and Tunde, the "collo oro" in english is called "patrijs" or "partridge" and not "black-red" because this not exist in Italy, but this is an other coloring.
the "patridge" have a wing triangle, but the "brown-red" not have a wing triangle.
you understand?
saluti gmarco
tutto chiaro?

Oké, now I understand, grazie gmarco.
So brown-red or gold birchen or betulla oro = ER/ER s+/s+ |

Danny dovrebbe essere solo ER/ER....il gene S dovrebbe essere quello dell'argento (presente nella colorazione betulla) |

Yes I know Simone, I always want to be too correct, the not mutated genes normaly are not written.
ER/ER S/S for a cock Betulla Silver or ER/ER S/- for a hen Betulla Silver and ER/ER alone for the gold versions. |

Danny
e+/e+ s+/s+ and ER/ER S: it's right to do brown-red in the first generation?

Ciao gmarco
It is never such a good idea to mix in breeding different E-locus genes (here e+/e+ with ER/ER) and it is also not a good idea to mix S-locus genes (here s+/s+ with S/-).
But you can do of course this color cross. It will result in ER/e+ s+/- hens (phenotype unpure Betulla, pure oro) and in ER/e+ S/s+ cocks (phenotype unpure Betulla, unpure dorato).
This are only theoretical results !
Ciao Danny |

Ciao Danny
Ok it's clear. To get brown-red I use: e+/e+ s+/s+ for hens ER/ER s+/-
or I use e+/e+ s+/s+ for ER/ER S will have cocks Er/e+ S/s+ and the hens Er/e+ s+/- in the perfect colours
